The TCF-S will adjust focus automatically to compensate for temperature changes in the telescope and will even remember the last temperature and position and calculate a new focus when turned on again at the next session!

The TCF focusers are controllable from its control box (near computer), optional remote keypad (at telescope), or via computer software.

The Intelligent Filter Wheel is an automatic Filter Selector featuring a 5-position filter wheel (or 8-position 1¼" filter wheel) with remote hand control for positioning 2" filters into the camera light path. Fully compatible with the MAXfield and WideField telecompressors, the IFW allows wide-field tri-color RGB imaging. With the IFW it is now possible to introduce photometric and color separation filters into the light path of virtually any CCD camera, regardless of the chip size.

Filter wheels are easily changed at the telescope without removing the camera or filter selector. With an intelligent hand control, the IFW can recognize up to five different wheel configurations and automatically display the name of the filter being used. And of course, it's fully computer controllable.

The New Pyxis camera rotator was specially designed with the guiding chip of the SBIG ST-x CCD cameras in mind. Simply locate a suitable guide star, enter the position angle and let the Pyxis rotate the camera. That's all there is to it. The NextGEN Series is the second generation of telecompressors designed by Optec. The first generation was available for the early CCD cameras such as the SBIG ST-6 and Meade 416. Improvements in CCD designed has warranted a complete redesign of our telecompressors which we offer now. These designs have been optimzed by the premier Zemax optical design program and are made to the highest optical standards. All optical surfaces are polished to a 60-40 cosmetic quality and coated with a hard broadband coating for maximum transmission and durability. No finer telecompressor is available.

NextGEN WideField 0.50X (NGW)
These telecompressors increase the effective speed of the Meade and Celestron Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes (see table below). Such reductions in focal length allow for much greater field areas. Also, exposure times are reduced for extended surface objects such as bright nebulae. The system is optimized specifically for f/10 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes to allow for the correction of field curvature and spherical chromatism that afflicts these types of instruments.

The maximum corrected fields have diameters (see table above) at the image plane which makes the optic suitable for CCD cameras with imaging chips of the same diagonal dimension or smaller. More Info

NextGEN Ultra Widefield
This telecompressor was designed specifically for systems with well corrected optics and flat fields such as can be obtained from apochromatic refractors. The speed of a f/8 Apo would be increased to f/5 with this system and the optics would still be diffraction limited. This four-element system also maintains the parfocality of the telescope since these types of telescope have more limited focus compared to SCTs. The image field is highly corrected to 18mm diameter so that large format CCD cameras can be used. The performance of this reducer would be impaired if used with a SCT.
